Alto's Adventure Wingsuit to Rock Bounce: A Plea for More Innovation in Platform Games

As I flew through the virtual skies with Alto's Adventure, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me. The game was very easy to get into, with map pieces falling into place as I rode through it. However, as much as I enjoyed this experience, I couldn't shake off the feeling that there wasn't anything particularly new or innovative about the gameplay.

Don't get me wrong; Alto's Adventure is a gem of a platformer, and there are many other great games in the genre worth exploring. But with so few truly good platformers on the market, it's hard not to feel like we're stuck in a rut. The Apple App Store, in particular, seems to be dominated by games that require an endless stream of microtransactions.

This is why I'm left longing for something new and exciting. More Alto's adventures with fresh ideas would be amazing – perhaps exploring new worlds like the ocean or space, where we could apply the smooth controls to entirely new settings. Instead of just riding a bumpy wall or sliding through water, what if we could jump into clouds and surf through them like stars?

To take it even further, I think it would be awesome to see more tricks added to the game, like flipping forward instead of just backwards by splitting the screen press points. It's been some time since Alto's Oddyssey, and I'm eager to see what the developers have in store for us.

Here's hoping that Alto's Adventure will continue to evolve and innovate, bringing new worlds and gameplay mechanics to the table. Until then, fans of platformers will just have to keep on dreaming – or, at the very least, keep on playing the same old games with a sense of longing for something more.
